{ Hoppinger HTML5 Handboek }

Het Hoppinger HTML5 Handboek is the product of research into the newest addition of the HTML family, HTML5. This research was the first project I worked on during my internship at Hoppinger and occupied almost half of the internship period (36 of the 80 days). The result is a research paper of over 80 pages and features chapters about:

  • The background of (x)HTML - How did HTML and XHTML came to exist and why're they developing a new HTML version?
  • New features of HTML5 - Which changes and new features have been introduced in HTML5.
  • Browser compatibility - To what extent do browsers support the newly added features?
  • Advantages for SEO - Does HTML5 contain new features that give an advantage for SEO compared to older versions?
  • HTML5 versus Flash - HTML5 has been named a 'Flash-killer'. This chapter looks into that claim and if this term can truly be applied.
  • Future of HTML5 and Hoppinger - Should you (as a webdeveloper/company) transfer to HTML5 at this moment or wait a little longer? And which factors play a role in this decision?
  • xHTML2 (as an appendix) - xHTML2 was being developed by W3C, but has never enjoyed big support and therefore the development was stopped. This chapter looks at some of the new features.
